Symptoms Of Hormone ImbalanceThe endocrine system is a complex system made up of glands where hormones are produced and secreted and which help the body to function properly. Any imbalance in this system, even if it a delicate one can cause the functioning of the body to go completely haywire. The chemicals that are produced by the cells of the body have varying functions and together they keep our system working properly.

Imbalances in hormone functions can cause a variety of symptoms and disorders of the body that needs to be assessed carefully before treating them adequately. Here are some definite symptoms of hormone imbalance.

Symptoms Of Hormone Imbalance

Emotional Instability

One of the major psychological symptoms of hormone imbalance in women is emotional instability. Women tend to become increasingly depressed, sad, irritable, and anxious and are prone to bursts of anger, hopelessness, grief etc. when they have fluctuating hormone levels in their body. This is especially visible during menstruation when hormone fluctuations in a woman’s body peaks and women feel the blues.

Physical Discomforts

Hormone problems in the body can affect a woman’s physical health as well. When there is a rise or drop in estrogen and progesterone hormones in the body, women are faced with many problems like loss of hair, weight gain, hair growth in excess, acne, irregular or missed periods, fatigue, loss of bone density etc.

Hormone imbalances can directly affect your ability to please your partner and cause relationship issues in your marriage. Women have reduces libido in such cases and due to the extreme fatigue and general malaise, they lose interest in sex as well. The effects are not just confined to the sexual act itself. Women also start feeling unattractive and less sexy, which too will affect their sexual desire.

Weigh Loss/Gain

Sudden weight loss or weight gain could be the result of hormone imbalance. This can be attributed to stress which is a great cause that leads to hormone imbalance. Eating food that is high in fat too can lead to weight gain and increased estrogen production. Other forms of stress can be related to work, personal trauma etc.

Menorrhagia

In younger women, hormone imbalance can cause heavy bleeding at the time of menstruation. When the menstrual cycle is normal, there is a balance of hormones and the endometrial lining in the uterus is adequately developed. During hormone imbalance, the balance is disturbed, leading to thickening of endometrial lining and possible heavy bleeding.

Menopausal Hormone Imbalance

When women are on the road to menopause, the ovaries stop producing estrogen and this can lead to symptoms like irregular menstruation, mood swings, dry skin and hair, thinning of hair,  depression, lack of sexual libido, urinary incontinence etc.
