Reducing pain and relaxation of the muscles and tissues are the primary objectives of treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. For this, the best solution has been found to be cold and hot compress. The cold compress reduces the pain while the hot compress relaxes the muscles and tissues.

For the cold compress, place an ice pack on the affected joint for about 15 minutes. If you need to repeat it, make sure you give a break of at least 30 minutes between each cold compress.  For the hot compress you can use a warm, damp towel or a moist heating pad.

Hot tubs can be a very invigorating and relaxing experience for those suffering from rheumatoid arthritis but if you have heart diseases, high blood pressure or you are pregnant then this is not for you.
